Hello!
We are the Gabbett Family!
Travel has been an integral part of our lives since we met in 2015. Our adventures began with visits to Mexico, Canada, Iceland, and Spain, and soon evolved into a month-long backpacking journey across nine European countries! After welcoming our wonderful children in 2020 and 2022, we assumed travel would yield to the demands of parenthood and life. However, we discovered that sharing the world with our children is an invaluable gift. Experiencing new cultures and destinations challenges them to step out of their comfort zones and nurtures their growth with a deepened appreciation for the world and the many people that exist in it.

Got questions? We’d love to hear from you! Click the link below to send us your inquiries. We’re committed to being open and transparent about our travel journey—whether it’s about costs, logistics, or anything else. Your questions help us share honest insights that we hope will guide and inspire your own adventures.
"How do you afford to travel so much?"
We prioritize travel in our budget by planning in advance, taking advantage of travel deals, and making thoughtful choices about accommodations and transportation. We also balance travel with work, making it possible to fund our adventures while sharing them on our blog. Everything we spend is budgeted and almost the entirety of our extra money goes toward travel and experiences. We choose to make travel a priority.
"What's your travel style?"
We’re all about immersive travel, connecting with locals, exploring off-the-beaten-path destinations, and embracing spontaneous adventures. Whether it’s hiking in nature or discovering hidden gems, we love making our trips both fun and meaningful. We love a balance of slow travel and more active days, giving us a mix of excitement and spontaneity, while also allowing time for rest and recovery.
"How do you travel with kids?"
Although not always easy, traveling with our children has been such a rewarding experience. We focus on slow travel, taking the time to let them soak in new cultures, and we make sure to prioritize activities they enjoy while also embracing the occasional downtime. We pay attention to their cues and respect their boundaries, understanding that recognizing when they've had enough is crucial. We make sure not to push them beyond what they can handle.
"What's your favorite destination so far?"
One of our absolute favorites has to be Turkiye! We spent three incredible months there on an epic road trip, and it truly captured our hearts. The hospitality of the people was unmatched, always making us feel like part of the family. The food was beyond amazing—every meal felt like a celebration of flavors. From stunning beaches to fairy-tale landscapes, Turkiye’s diversity of natural beauty is something we’ll never forget. There was always something new to explore, whether it was ancient ruins, bustling cities, or peaceful coastal towns. We can’t wait to return someday!
"How do you decide what to pack on your travels?"
We focus on packing as light as possible, trying to bring versatile clothing, keeping in mind the climate and activities of each destination. Essentials like a good camera, travel-size toiletries, and extra layers are always included, but we try to keep things minimal to make traveling easier. Of course, each destination requires unique items and we try to keep this in mind - although many times we simply purchase what we need at our destination, rather than carrying it along.
"What places are at the top of your bucket list?"
There are so many!
Some countries at the top of our list right now are Georgia, Japan, Jordan, New Zealand, and Morocco. Some landmarks we are dreaming of seeing are Machu Picchu, Petra, the Great Wall of China, and the Pyramids of Giza. Some other places we hope to visit include Milford Sound, Patagonia, the Salt Flats of Bolivia, and the hiking trails of Madeira. Some unique experiences we would love to have when the kids are older would be: snorkeling with whales and sharks, an Antarctica cruise, eco-camping trip in Socotra, a Galapagos Islands trip, and visiting Churchill to see the Polar Bears.
